Sometimes it’s exactly the stuff that seems “cheesy” or “way too basic” or whatever that is precisely the right thing to do, and we work ourselves into a panic because there’s no way it can be that simple!  Except sometimes it is.

Yes. Sometimes people feel really, really pressured to be original and creative at all times, and like it’s a failure to do what most other people do, or to do something that’s a trope.

But actually, not everything has to be original, and tropes aren’t always bad. Some things are common for bad reasons, but some things are common because they work well and people like them.

It’s ok to do stuff that’s comfortable and effective even if it isn’t complicated or an original new idea.
